Planning To LeaveIf you have decided you want to leave or think you may want to leave sometime soon there are some things you can do in preparation. Keep together any important documents, e.g. passport, marriage certificate, birth certificate, bank books, benefit books, medical card, keys. You may choose to as a family member or a friend who you trust to take care of these things. Make sure you have some money available for buses or taxis. You will also need to try to take any medication that you or your children take regularly, some clothes, and a perhaps a favourite toys for your children. You may choose to as a family member or a friend who you trust to take care of these things. Leave when it is safe to do so, make sure you know where you can go to. It is useful to contact the police and tell them you are leaving, this will stop your partner being able to use them to find you.
